Dot.
Hi 👋
Dot. is a small pixel art studio that lives in one browser tab — or in a tiny Windows app, if you prefer. No account, no subscriptions, no "accept cookies": open it, you're drawing.
I built it for people who want a tool that's quick to grasp and nice to use every day. Sprites for indie games, icons, mockups, experiments, little animated GIFs for socials — Dot. is right there, ready, with no clutter.
What you can do
Draw, calmly. Pen, eraser, bucket, eyedropper, line, rectangle, circle. Brush from 1 to 8 px. Horizontal or vertical mirroring for when you want both sides of a sprite to match without thinking.
See color differently. When you pick a color, Dot. instantly suggests seven ready-made shades — lighter, darker, warmer. Shading and gradients just happen.
Work in layers. Background, character, shadows, details — each on its own layer. Drag to reorder, tweak the opacity, hide and show on the fly. No more "oh, I erased the whole scene".
Animate frame by frame. A horizontal timeline sits at the bottom, always there. Add frames, duplicate them, hit Space and it plays. Onion skin shows the previous and next frame as ghosts — so you can feel the motion without guessing.
Export, properly. A single PNG with the background you want, a sprite sheet ready for your engine, or the whole project as a .dot file (reopen it months later — layers, frames, palette, all there).
Stay tidy. Auto-save. Multi-project. Drop a PNG on the window and it imports. Drop a .dot and it opens. On the desktop app you can also double-click .dot files in Explorer and they open in Dot.
Who it's for
- 🎮 You're making an indie game and need fast sprites and tiles.
- 🐦 You draw icons for your projects.
- 🌱 You're learning pixel art and want a tool that doesn't scare you.
- 💾 You don't want another online account just to draw.
On your device, always
Dot. talks to no server. No analytics, no tracker, no telemetry. Once it loads it works offline too, and your projects live inside your browser (or on your disk, if you use the desktop app). They're yours, full stop.
Two ways to use it
🌐 In the browser — hit Run game above. Works on Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari. Designed for 1024 px screens and up (tablets are fine).
